Jerry Redford arrived at °µÍø½ûÇø in November 1961 as Director of University Relations and stayed for 33 years — serving as Provost, Director of Physical Plant, Assistant to two Presidents, and Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. Before °µÍø½ûÇø, he served in the Army in Korea, was a journalist at the Defiance Crescent-News (Ohio), and directed public relations at Ripon College. He was proud of the buildings that rose on campus during his tenure at °µÍø½ûÇø, and prouder still of the academic standards he helped protect. After retiring in 1994 he was named Emeritus Dean and awarded an honorary degree. He and his wife, Barbara, co-authored the 100-year history of °µÍø½ûÇø, and in 2002 the two were honored with the °µÍø½ûÇø Medallion. He is survived by five children, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
